Everything must go. And so does Aether. This edition will be the final (ir)regular event in this series. It has been an adventurous sonic journey so far. And we’d like to complete it with a guitar-based experience in which our guests will provide us. Our guest for this evening are Radboud Mens, Simon Scott and Alex Jobs.

Radboud Mens Radboud Mens is a sound-artist from whose work is rooted in and continues to develop within the broadest definition of contemporary music. While his interest in the physical effects of sound on the body gave him a preference for noise in his early work, his later music has contributed to the development of minimal-techno, glitch and experimental dub. Mens uses electronic technology to render audible microscopic sound processes. His sound-world is in a constant state of spatial and temporal flux, and incorporates found sound and influences from the media. For this evening Radboud will perform his three guitar piece installation. An installation in which he controls three guitars simultaniously with a computer. http://www.radboudmens.com

Simon Scott Simon Scott is a sound artist and multi-instrumentalist living in Cambridge, UK where he runs his KESH Music label. His work in recent years explores a fusion of digital sound manipulation with melodic and organic textures inspired by his interests in sound ecology, human perception, music technology and photography. He has toured internationally since 1990 (as a member of Slowdive) and has had his compositions featured in a variety of international films, music festivals, theatre productions, sound installations and digital multi-media projects. Scott has collaborated and shared the studio and stage with Nils Frahm, Taylor Deupree, Stephan Mathieu, Marcus Fisher, Lawrence English, The Caretaker, Isan, Sawako, Greg Haines, Fourcolor, The Sight Below, BJ Nilsen, Machinefabriek and many more. http://www.simonscott.org

5 Records That Matter with Alex Jacobs Alex Jacobs is a Rotterdam based visual artist active in the fields of painting, sculpture and installation. Currently Alex Jacobs collaborates with his partner Ellemieke Schoenmaker as an artistic duo called V&B. In their work they express critical views on the conditions of artistic production often using images of themselves as iconic examples. For the 10 anniversary which takes place this year (we started in april 2003 with a concert by Helgoland and the nowadays legendary Stromboli series by Coolhaven) Dr. Bibber will eat out your cake this particular day.

For this event we produced a flexdisc + zeroxcopy booklet. The flexdisc will contain the beautiful song ‘Sex met negerinnen’ (sex with negrowoman). Live happening with cake jumping & concert by Dr. Bibber, screening of the Bratwurst film. Please? starring pornstar J.S. plus tricks by neo-magicist Hans Zimmermann and his black lady assistant. Times of crisis and less consuming. The current financial situation forces everyone to be more careful with their finances. Various taxes are being raised and social provisions get more expensive. Art subsidies are being forced to stop and the art-world gets heavy loaded with pressure. How will we deal with this? How can we make sure that quality won’t suffer from the current crisis? It takes a great amount of flexibility and a new creative way of thinking.

The exhibition Low Budget – High Class is taking preparations for the prospective cost reduction. The artists work with a starting point of low budget, but try to present this with a high class appearance. These artists are shining their light on their upcoming future with the medium photography and film.

Low Budget - High Class is a group exhibitions organized by twenty photography students from the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam and was totally developed by the students themselves. With the help of sponsors and donations they arranged everything and aspire to present the possibility of quality with a minimal budget.

The evening will be launched by MTBC, who will provide you with the best deep house there is.

The headliner will be no one less that Khalil from the Triphouse crew. This pioneer in dutch underground house will rock your socks like only he can.

The closing will be done by the new Rotterdamsche Nieuwe boys called Regz & Aredo. Be sure you come to see them in person.

Open training and recruiting for Rotterdam’s first and only roller derby league

Do you want to have fun on skates this summer and are you not scared of some bruises? Then you are the girl we are looking for! Come to our Fresh Meat Day and play some roller derby with us!

Experience is not necessary! Really, it’s not :) We will teach you everything you need to know to improve your (roller derby) skating skills and we will take it at your own pace.

It is possible to rent some skates and protection gear from us, so don’t worry about that. But if you have rollerskates: yes, please bring them with you!

The contribution for this grand day is 5 Euro (rent of gear not included)

NEW SKATERS, REFEREES, NSO’S (non-skating officials) ARE ALL WELCOME!

Important note: you have to be 18+ to be able to skate with us.
