In the Eighties the city of Rotterdam moved to the forefront of photography. Several photographers decided to turn away from realism and chose to create their own worlds with the camera. A ´Rotterdam School´, influenced by Surrealism, took root in a city that proudly boasts of its no-nonsense attitude. Guest Curator Rommert Boonstra selected work from more than 20 artists, photographers amd film makers. Their fantastic imagery is shown in the seventeenth century Schielandshuis, strewn throughout a cityscape of folded paper with the Rotterdam of the Eighties as a backdrop.

Bart Isings shows a selection of found images, photographs and drawings, with these elements he reconstructs the city from his memory.
