On 4 and 5 October, the biggest drawing festival - The Big Draw - is coming to Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen. The festival has one major goal: to get everyone drawing. The festival is an ode to drawing. Visitors are challenged to get started with their ideas and draw. During the weekend there are several activities:
Kids Dreamworld - 4 & 5 October, ongoing In this workshop, you can draw your own fantasy animal, inspired by the surrealist paintings in the collection of the museum. Illustrator SPAM Griensven takes you to a dream world of fantasy animals and helps you draw.
Create your own button - 4 & 5 October, ongoing Johan Kleinjan and Gees Voorhees swap their studio for the Art Studio. In the museum they work on their drawings and subsequently make buttons.
Music ‘n Draw - 4 October, 13:00-15:00 Model drawing with a twist: two models, a host, works from the museum and a DJ. These are the main ingredients of Music ‘n Draw. Vincent Cardinal, well-known of the online magazine ‘Vers Beton’, will guide everyone in his own way.
Drawing on glass - 4 & 5 October, ongoing You can draw on paper, but also on glass! In the Art Studio of the museum is the glass facade converted into a drawing pad! Inspired by the museum and the artworks in the collection, illustrator Bruno Ferro Xavier (of the Rotterdam artist collective CAMP HORST) makes a start with the drawing.
Workshop character animation - 5 October, 12:00-15:00 Bring drawings to life. In the workshop character animation you make your own little movie about the museum. The workshop is lead by Sander Alt and Michiel Wesselius (Studio Urrebuk) to provide a fantastic end result.
