Arnoud Gerritse Funky Band (presented by StraightupJazz)
Jazzclub / restaurant BIRD is located under the first seven arches of the former Hofplein Station. A club with a platform full of jazz, soul, hiphop, funk and new electronica. Every Thursday StraightupJazz presents a national or an foreign artist with a unique view on Jazz. On Februari 23rd the gentlemen of Arnoud Gerritse Funky Band will funk up the stage.
During his study at the conservatorium in Rotterdam, Arnoud Gerritse was already a drummer at Vara Dans Orkest, performing at over three hundred live radio shows. Over the past years he played in every kind of jazz orchestra, from big bands to trios and he recorded albums with numerous jazz artists. He led the Rotterdam Jazz Ensemble for a number of years and now has pointed his interest towards the Funky Band.
A majority of the band’s repertoire consists of compositions from Arnoud himself. The soloist qualities, the ability to improvise and the excellent teamwork of the four musicians are unmatched. This evening you will witness a flaming performance full of funk with jazz harmonies…just the way you like it.
