Watch the time on the Markthal

On the Swan Market of 6 April UrbanFabric (by NOV’82 Architects) will launch their new collection of clocks, inspired by icons of Rotterdam. Think of the Markthal, Central Station and other famous eye-catchers of our city. On our Facebook page you can suggest which icon you’d like to see in our new collection. Not so into clocks? MAMA proudly presents Infinite Monkey Theorem, Riley Harmon’s (1987, US) first solo exhibition. Harmon, currently in residence at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam, showcases two new film installations at Showroom MAMA. The exhibition opens on Friday 6 March and runs until 26 April.

Book Launch Onderzoek & Ontwikkeling

On Sunday, March 1st, the Book Launch of the publication Onderzoek & Ontwikkeling – Bijzondere projecten, residencies, pubicaties en onderzoek door Rotterdamse kunstenaars 2010|2011|2012|2013| will take place at TENT, starting from 15:00 in the afternoon. During the Book Launch, journalist Vincent Cardinaal will recite a column, of which the motto is ‘where do we go from here’. The first book will be presented to Salima Belhaj, chairman of the parliamentary group D66 Rotterdam. The exhibition Shift & Drift and accompanying publication both celebrate the five year anniversary of the Onderzoek & Ontwikkeling grant.

“SCALE:” Illustration exhibition by Rachel Sender and Anniek Tijmes

Anniek Tijmes (NL) and Rachel Sender (ES) have created “SCALE:”, a series of illustrations that studies human vs. architectural scale and the interaction of these with both interior and exterior urban spaces in Rotterdam.

Opening: Rotterdam Cultural Histories #4

In 1978-79 the Lijnbaancentrum in Rotterdam organized the exhibition Jack’s Procession: What’s Going on Here? with Paul Thek (1933-1988, US), displaying an environment that filled the entire exhibition space of the center. Thek had created large-scale environments in a number of European institutions in the late sixties and early seventies, this installation in Rotterdam was one of the last that he made in Europe.
