This weekend there is an Afrobeat Special in GROUNDS! Tonight ‘Can I Kick It’ presents a tribute to Fela Kuti. The ReFreshed Band performs with no one less than special guest Tony Allen. Also Akua Naro, DJ 360 and more guests will go on stage.

Exclusively for Soundpiece, sound artist Jorg Schellekens made the project En Plein Publiek. Out of soundrecordings of 4 different Rotterdam Squares, he made 4 soundscapes, each of them take 20 minutes. Who can guess 3 of these 4 squares he used in his Soundpiece, can win theatre or concert tickets for De Doelen or Rotterdamse Schouwburg.

Festival Jazz International Rotterdam 2011 provides a multi-day jazz program of national and international programming at several venues in Rotterdam. The festival is working with a musician as a guest programmer. This year, bassist and composer Tony Overwater co-programmed the festival. In 2002 Tony Overwater received the VPRO / Boy Edgar Prize, the most prestigious Dutch jazz prize.

‘Geen Daden Maar Woorden Festival’ is one of the leading festivals of modern literature in The Netherlands. It brings experimental and small acts on stage and combines a big diversity of disciplines. On stage are authors, poets, theater, concerts, movies and unexpected guest performances.

Speyksessies is a multidisciplinary night that features upcoming talents as well as established artists from the disciplines literature and music. There are also visual artworks exhibited, provided by Gallery Frank Taal.

From 22 until 25 September the CAMERA JAPAN Festival will be held for the sixth time. Experience four days of Japanese culture with tons of movies (all English subtitled), concerts, performances, workshops and delicious Japanese food! Preceded by a film & debate at De Unie on 16 September, and a Kick-off at the EXIT on 21 September.

On Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 September Dek22 has workshops silk screening, computerized embroidering, jewelry design and DJ-ing. Simultaneously we open an exhibition by Bier&Brood and on Saturday evening 20.00 hrs there’s a performance by The New Earth Group. So, drop by at 12.00 for the workshops, and swing by at 20.00 for the music!

On Saturday september 11th, the Goliath flagship store will be open between morning and midnight. Inside, the Mesh Print Club will demonstrate the art of screen-printing by teaching you how to print and we’ll premier three short films about creative communities.

On October 1st ‘Westelijk Handelsterrein’ will be transformed into Rotterdam’s biggest, most diverse and craziest indoor festival once again. For this edition we are working hard on: more areas, DJ’s, 100% organic food and live art. We will be hosting some of the coolest organizations from around the country, presenting some of the best national and international DJ’s and live acts.

A unique and cultural festival which will be held for the fourth time to end the summer season in a fabulous way. On the 27th and 28th of August you can experience all that ‘Deelgemeente Noord’ has to offer in the area of talent, culture, shops, food, and businesses. This free festival is held at the Noordplein, which will be transformed into a beautiful, large park.

During de Wereld van de Witte de With festival the French Collective Exyzt builds hotel rooms on the most unexpected places around the Witte de With. Hotel rooms you can actually spend the night in!

The second weekend of September is highlighted by the Wereld van de Witte de With in Rotterdam. This 3-day festival claims the streets for young national and international artists with loads of art, events and parties.

Rotterdam by dusk, by dark, by dawn and by sunrise. Parfum de BoemBoem will show you the most striking sites of our city, at the most unusual times. During the new festival ‘24 h culture’, 8 new bycycle tours will start from the Museumpark.

The Van Oldebarneveltstraat is been renovated, to celebrate this SHPPR created a new festival called Proeft Rotterdam. This a festival all about food, local, raw, cider, cheeses and so much more.

Good morning Rotterdam takes place on august 27th from 11 in the morning till 23 at night and is all about wellness, art, disco and fitness.

So expect plenty of djs, a mass fitness session at eleven in the morning , hottubs, a karaokehottub, masseuses, facial masks, shisha lounges, fruitshakebars sauna’s and all of this for FREE!!

Night of the Cape is a night that honors the glorious history of Katendrecht as home of pirates, sailors and a red light district. With songs, theater and stories about life (of the sea) people feel like they’re back in time!

With acts as Goslink, Half Way Station, Hausmagger, La Boutique Fantastique, Jungle by Night and a special of the band Kilimian Hawaiians this night promises to be a legendary party!
