ELECTRIC DREAMS (after LaMonte Young, Brion Gysin, Phil Oakley)
One evening performance event by Jade Boyd and Joel Stern
A Waking-dream induction environment constructed from electrical pulses, liquefied force fields and signal transmission therapies.
Boyd’s and Stern’s _kinetic light and sound performance/installation is designed to stimulate mental oscillation, leading to lasting revelation.
Throughout the evening the event will be visible as well from the street outside, and for those more curious, from the inside of Upominki space.
artists bio
Jade Boyd (Berlin/ Australia) installation/ live audio-visual performance harnessing analogue/ digital feedback, light manipulations in the poly-sensorial tradition of ’60s psychedelic light shows. Visual artist based for many years in Oslo, exhibited and performed throughout Europe and in the US, collaborating with artists and musicians including Alan Howarth (Film Soundtrack Composer), Emeralds, Ekoplekz and The Haxan Cloak.
‘Boyd is fascinated by the capacity of technology for manifesting the otherwise unseen forces which govern our existence, as acknowledged by science and the occult. The intersection of these superficially opposing areas is where Boyd finds inspiration. She works to unveil these forces via “sound waves and electronic impulses as in video signals.”’ (Joseph Stannard, The Wire, 2011)
