After following Robin Nolan for about 20 years, saxophone player Benjamin Herman saw his dream finally become reality: a collaboration resulting in a gypsy Jazz record. On Wednesday December 9th, Benjamin Herman takes the stage with Robin Nolan’s trio where they’ll perform tracks from their new album, Swing de Paris.

This entire night is dedicated to British Soul and Jazz singer Amy Winehouse. Who really doesn’t need any further introduction. Line up: Niek de Bruijn (drums), Daniël Arthur Eskens (bass), Richie Reichgelt (guitar), Marinus van den Brink (piano), Tom Ridderbeekx (trumpet), Emiel van der Heide (tenor saxophone) and Peter Broekhuizen (baritone saxophone)

XYZ Quintet (BIRDsessions)

The Polish saxophone player Lukasz Sokolowski paired with the rest of his quintet will make sure the night is filled with nice melodies, rich harmonies and tight grooves. The quintet plays covers and arrangements of famous (and less famous) Funk and Fusion artists. Maarten Hogenhuis / Miguel Rodríguez (BIRDsessions

Besides leader of his own quartet and trio, Maarten Hogenhuis is also a member of power Jazz group BRUUT! and the somewhat anarchistic Jazz band The More Socially Relevant Jazz Music Ensemble. He collaborated with Benjamin Herman, Caro Emerald and the New Cool Collective Big Band.

Thomas Pol in America (BIRDsessions)

Thomas Pol has been playing the bass for almost his entire life. He recently finished his master in New Orleans, where he also recorded an album, which will be released soon. He played with musicians such as Wessell Anderson, Jamison Ross, Stanton Moore, Herlin Riley and Gregory Porter. He played at festivals such as North Sea Jazz Festival, New Orleans Jazz Fest and Liberation festival. Line up: Thomas Pol (bass), Jasper van Damme (saxophone), Federico Castelli (guitar), Jorn ten Hoopen (guitar) and Jamie Peet (drums)
