For Melanchotopia, Olivier Foulon dives into Rotterdam’s history of public art commissions. His contribution to the exhibition involves an interpretation of the history of Ring, a work by German artist Isa Genzken commissioned by Commissie Beelden in de stad [Commission Sculptures in the city] in 1988.

‘Met vriendelijke groet’ (‘With kind regards’), consists of 98 letters with 75 answers. Whether personal or intimate, embarrassing or delicate, hilarious or touchingly wonderful, all letters are written to people (from celebrities to close friends to very loose acquaintances) who have in some way touched the life of the author, Dienand Christe.

Appeal to Probability is a project by Marijke Appelman and started a year ago as a Dropbox -file hosting service- folder giving the invited artists the opportunity to exchange images, text and other files. Now, a week long, the artists will work and meet at Het Wide Weten daily in an attempt to not only finish a piece but also exchange information and craftsmanship.

Dek22 presents the exhibition Salon de Spam: a collection of work by artists concerned with the media and the literal space in which they exhibit. They take inspiration from Facebook, Google search, Youtube, magazines, films and television, but a lot of the works on show are site-specific improvisations.
