Opening Shared Space #4
Witte de With and TENT present Shared Space #4, a spatial design curated by Aad Krol (Galerie VIVID) for the two institutions’ communal area.
For this project Krol composed an interior with work by young designers Jack Brandsma, Thomas Eurlings, Jelle Feringa and Dennis Parren. In doing so, Krol has transformed the Shared Space into a reading-room, soberly furnished with a table, chairs, bookshelves, a hanging lamp sculpture and a mirror.
Collaborative project Shared Space
In 2007 the art institutions Witte de With and TENT initiated the collaborative project Shared Space: a long-term design presentation in the communal area of the building on the Witte de Withstraat in Rotterdam. A talented Rotterdam-based designer is commissioned to offer their interpretation of the two institutions’ shared space. This area is situated on the first floor of the building, between the two art institutions. Shared Space isn’t part of the regular program of either institution, nor is it an exhibition. It is a spatial design for the use of both staff and visitors. In this way ‘Sharing’ isn’t just a visual, but also a tangible experience. Earlier editions showed work by Bertjan Pot (in collaboration with Frank Bruggeman), Sebastiaan Straatsma and Chris Kabel. The fourth edition of Shared Space has a slightly different set-up because Aad Krol has been invited to present his choice of four designers.
