We are going on a trip and we pack… a bag full of inspiring designs: the most luxurious suitcase in the world, hilarious picture-columns about holiday behaviour, anticipatory vacation pleasure with a mediterranean photo- and movie campaign and finally a tent which can be set up in a tree. Staying at home is not an option and zip off pants will be refused!

On Friday June 7 at TENT ‘Less is More, More Or Less’ opens the discussion on the collecting and de-collecting of art in public space. Thinkers attempt to formulate theoretical foundations for policy (opinions), experts will look at examples in practise (field trips), and artists are showing how they make de-collecting part of their own work (case studies).

Ode to the Father

‘Ode to the Father’ is a book and exhibition of Kees Spruijt in which he portrays 23 fathers between 25 and 54 years old. The portraits are a personal account of these fathers, with a nod to the mothers. Spruijt is surprised ‘about the way women propagate motherhood’, while men are much less known for their paternity.

Music & Capitalism with Marco Fusinato & Johannes Kreidler

DE PLAYER and WORM present a day about music and economy, revolving around two authoritative sound-artists/composers, whose work is engaged with political-economical proceses. Marco Fusinato (AU) bases his graphical scores on historical, mostly left, political explosions and pitfalls of collectives like The Situationist International and Red Brigades. Johannes Kreidler (DE) who made a piece consisting of 70 thousand samples, and for each of these fragments he asked permission from the GEMA (the German BUMA).

Opening MEME @ MAMA

MEME @ MAMA is a project where students from the Willem de Kooning Academy delved into the subject of internet memes. An internet meme is a concept that is spread from person to person via the internet. A meme can spread in the form of a picture, video or audio file, rumour or quote, via any internet channel that allows voluntary sharing. An important characteristic of the meme is that it is not only shared from person to person, but that it can take many different forms and versions.

Rotterdam 2040, a film by Gyz la Rivière in TENT

On Saturday 18 May, TENT presents Rotterdam 2040, a new video work by artist Gyz La Rivière. “You can’t move forward without looking back”, is the starting point of his 95-minute film. In an energetic mix of facts, fiction, and futurism, Gyz La Rivière outlines the highs and lows of Rotterdam’s development. The video will be on view at TENT until June 16th.
