Rotterdamse Oogstfestival
This food festival and market aims to bring the best of nearby farms to us, cityfolk. City-, rooftop- or good old coutryside farmers will show you their work on the Heemraadsplein in Rotterdam-West. This square will be transformed into a big urban farmyard. There’s music, art and kids stuff too. This year, we especially salute the potato and the pig.
At this year’s festival you will find a market with local produce and food stalls offering everything from oysters to vegan snacks. There will be bands (Rotterdam’s finest, of course), farm art and performances. You can fall in love with a potato in the Knol d’Amour, or knit cute little pig’s ears with Sas Knits it Again. We also hope to build a home for our two pigs, with some help from our friends. Oh, and there’s movies too. Such as Divine Pig, about a butcher getting too attached to his pig. In other words: To eat or not to eat pork. The festival starts at 10 a.m. and lasts till 10 p.m. Free admittance.
