ROTTT
This edition of ROTTT presents: Hospital Bombers (NL), Crappy Dog (NL), Lovis (NL)
We start off with Lovis. These Utrechters bring the evening to the pleasant temperature of a cool summer evening. The only thing you have to do is breath in and be taken away by the music that reminds us of Sigur Rós and Helios.
At Budokan, the name of a huge stadium in Japan where many great bands have performed, is the titel of the new record of these Excelsior label comedians. Hospital Bombers starts the record with a grin, enclosed by two slow hypnotic tracks, but with room for cheerfulness, cynicism and yes, compassion. According to the Volkskrant the album is “delightfully disorded, happy-go-lucky pop music”. Think of The Mountain Goats, Guided By Voices and some Neutral Milk Hotel.
Then there is Crappy Dog, a real do-it-yourself-band from the streets of Rotterdam. They rumble, stumble, stomp and thump with their raggedy Delta blues. The perfect end to a hot and sweaty summers day!
