SHOWROOM by Suzanne Dikker
Suzanne Dikker is a Rotterdam based fashion designer. Dikker studied fashion design at the Willem de Kooning Academie. After graduating in 2009, she launched her own women’s wear label. SHOWROOM is a presentation of Suzanne Dikker’s Spring/Summer collection for 2013.
Within her work she examines the border between couture piece and wearable garments. Her opinion about fashion is that clothing is meant to be worn, but at the same time she is searching for the meaning that fashion, as an art, represents.
SHOWROOM is firstly a presentation of Suzanne Dikker’s Spring/Summer collection for 2013. With this collection she brings a contemporary view on wearable fashion. Hand dyed prints and the use of a slightly clashing color palette are significant properties of her work.
Secondly, it is an exhibition of her latest Fall/Winter collection, featuring the fashion film ‘Dismay’. Dismay is the result of a collaboration between Suzanne Dikker and art director Romy Tielman. It is a cross-over between fashion and film and takes the viewer on a trip in the world of a struggling young woman, whose emotions range from sadness, to loss, to complete dismay.
