The Big Short in Islemunda

The Big Short is a 2015 American film directed and co-written by Adam McKay. It is based on the non-fiction 2010 book of the same name by Michael Lewis about the financial crisis of 2007–2008, which was triggered by the United States housing bubble. The film was nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor for Bale, and won in the category of best Best Adapted Screenplay.

OMERO invites you to the next session of the Typical Movies #2, El Hombre de al Lado (The Man Next Door, by Mariano Cohn and Gastón Duprat, 2010).
The movie is entirely located at the Casa Curutchet in La Plata (Argentina). Casa Curutchet is designed by Le Corbusier in 1948 and it was completed under the supervision of the Argentine architect Amancio Williams in 1953.

Last month it was the 100th anniversary of the birth of Jane Jacobs (1916-2006), the famous journalist, author and activist on urban issues. We dedicate this evening to her lessons about urban life, lessons that still teach us how to look at our cities, streets and sidewalks. Tonight we screen a movie that will inspire us with her ideas and activism.

Youth (Italian: La giovinezza) is a 2015 Italian comedy-drama film written and directed by Paolo Sorrentino. It is the director’s second English language film, and stars Michael Caine and Harvey Keitel as best friends who reflect on their lives while holidaying in the Swiss Alps. It is a story of the eternal struggle between age and youth, the past and the future, life and death, commitment and betrayal. The cast also includes Rachel Weisz, Paul Dano, and Jane Fonda.

Kino Klub Goethe: Eine Liebe in Deutschland

In May Kino Klub Goethe, a high quality film series of German cinema at the Goethe-Institut Rotterdam, will be showing “Eine Liebe in Deutschland” by the famous Polish director Andrzej Wajda. As always with an introduction by film expert Peter Bosma and a glass of German wine!
