The culinary movie “Sergio Herman, Fucking Perfect” will première on Thursday March 12th. Rotterdam is of course the culinary hotspot of the Netherlands and therefore we organize a special preview on Monday 9th of March in LantarenVenster.

In March Kino Klub Goethe, a high quality film series of German cinema at the Goethe-Institut Rotterdam, will be showing “Winterschläfer” by the internationally known German director Tom Tykwer. As always with an introduction by film expert Peter Bosma and a glass of German wine!

Twelve year old Jan Grovers spends more time in the alleys of Rotterdam than with his family. Together with his best friend and partner in crime Pietje Puk he plans to travel to America to get rich. When a local clergyman takes pity on the boy and tries to teach him good manners, Boefje at first rebels. However, once he is sent to a strict boarding school, he takes an interest in music, specifically the pipe organ.

Manifest: Animation Show & Tell

Manifest is a regular animation show & tell evening. Just like the school show & tell exercise, participants bring an animation clip that they love (that they didn’t create themselves) and they share with the audience what it is and why they chose it. Come to manifest to see what people are passionate about and why. Drink a beer and chat with the presenters about animation.

Film and book It’s Never Too Late to Say Sorry

The short documentary, It’s Never Too Late to Say Sorry, about the much-discussed artwork on the Coolsingel by the artist duo Elmgreen and Dragset, has its world premiere at the IFFR. It will be followed by the launch of the publication 366 Sorry-rapporten (366 Sorry Reports), written by Wim Konings – the man who decried daily for a year at the stroke of midday, ‘It is never too late to say sorry!’, as an appeal to the city and passers-by. Nowadays, he only makes this call on Wednesdays. Elmgreen and Dragset will be present for the evening via Skype.

Good Stock on the Dimension Floor: an Opera

5:45pm - Witte de With and the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) are pleased to present a screening of Good Stock on the Dimension Floor: an Opera by HOWDOYOUSAYYAMINAFRICAN, a multidisciplinary artists collective of the African diaspora. This screening is a prelude to the collective’s upcoming exhibition (22 May – 23 August) at Witte de With, which is curated in association with Sienna Shields, Christa Bell, and Nana Adusei-Poku.

Witte de With and IFFR, Signals: Bruce McClure

Witte de With joins forces with the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) and hosts an exhibition by Bruce McClure during IFFR 2015.

His presentation at Witte de With, COURTING DAYLIGHT IN SAVING DARKNESS, is his most elaborate and expansive installation to date and references the Emanuel de Witte painting “Interior With A Woman At The Virginals” (from the collection of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen).
