The Crisis and I
Write it down in your agenda, don’t plan a thing on Wednesday January 18th. On that night there will be a special event in Rotterdam’s Arminius church. Several guestspeakers will talk on the subject ‘the crisis and I’.
The economical crisis is a fact, but what are the consequences for people like you and I? What should we do? Emigrate? Keep all our money on foreign bank-accounts? Join a union? Sit in an Occupy-tent? Put more pressure on politics? On this night of the Denkcafé several speakers will shine their light on such questions. Among the speakers are: - Peter Verhaar: Known from Pauw & Witteman, and founder of the Alex Bank. He will explain whether starting your own bank is a smart move. - Brenda Stoter: Journalist. She will show us how the crisis has already started effecting us in our daily life. - Merijn Oudenampsen: He will explain what we can learn and expect from the Occupy-movement. - Marie-Claire van den Berd: Author of ‘Groen Doen’. She will show us how we can live sustainably, in a period of crisis. - Ronald Buijt: City council member (Leefbaar Rotterdam) will explain how the crisis is effecting Rotterdam and what politics can do about it. - Ewald Engelen: Financial geographer. He will explain what citizens, consumers and voters can do differently to prevent a next crisis. - Rob Gongrijp: Hacker and founder of xs4all will tell us about the Mother of all Crises that’s about to hit us, and how we can prepare ourselves. Presentation: Mei Li Vos and Francisco van Jole
