Works of art by Son Lux

Son Lux created a fascinating piece of art with his most recent album, Bones. This composer and multi-instrumentalist, who worked with artists such as Sufjan Stevens, Lorde and Beyoncé producer Boots, enchanted the public of Into The Great Wide Open and Pukkelpop with his magical sounds. He is planning to do exactly the same thing in BIRD on Sunday October 25th!

Sat 24 October

Instrumental psychedelics with Mocky in BIRD

Rotterdam – Mocky, former roommate and co-producer of Peaches and Feist, co-writer of the hits ‘Multiply’ and ‘Another Day’ of best friend Jamie Lidell and the main character of the short film Mockumentary in which the ‘musical enigma Mocky’ is being researched. Despite all that, Mocky managed to stay under the radar. Exactly the way he wants it to be, because this multi-instrumentalist, singer and producer rather focusses on his musical journey than big commercial success. Lucky for us his musical journey leads him to BIRD on October 24th.

You might know him from parties such as Thunderdome, Glastonbury, Glade, Dominator, Hardshock and whatnot. Expect a DJ Producer set but in 90’s rave style - he’s looking forward, it is a RETOX party, so don’t expect the “usual” hardcore techno.

Tue 27 October

The transformation Vessels made with their latest LP Dilate has been quite astounding. Just four years back the Leeds-based instrumental quintet was known for their monumental brand of post- and math rock. Dilate demonstrates an entirely different side to Vessels, employing fluid-like electronic soundscapes, ethereal synth layers and a warm, pulsating four-to-the-floor cadence, drawing influences from the likes of The Orb, Caribou, M83 and John Hopkis.

Thu 22 October

Line-up: Tom Ridderbeekx (trumpet), Yoran Aarssen (saxophone), Sam Thomas (trombone), Robert Koemans (piano), Yussif Barakat (upright bass) and Willem Romers (drums)
