Open Set – Graphic Design Summer School

Open Set hosted by Kunstblock

The annual design conference Open Set – Graphic Design Summer School takes place in Rotterdam this year, from the 28th of July till the 9th of August. Open Set was invited by Kunstblock, a Rotterdam based foundation, set up by five cultural institutions that reside on the Witte de Withstraat. The different workshops and presentations that are part of the Summer School take place in the different Kunstblock affiliated locations.

Selected Readings: Eight Views on an Exhibition

For the duration of The Part In The Story Where A Part Becomes A Part Of Something Else, Witte de With invited eight guest moderators to give a “reading” or interpretative tour of the exhibition. Throughout summer 2014, moderated public tours of the exhibition will be given by Lorenzo Benedetti (Director de Appel arts centre, Amsterdam), Oscar van den Boogaard (Novelist and Director of the HISK, Ghent), Ann Demeester (Director Frans Hals Museum – De Hallen Haarlem), Dessislava Dimova (Writer and curator, Brussels), Chris Fitzpatrick (Director Objectif Exhibitions, Antwerp), Christina Li (Curator, writer, and Witness to the Moderation(s) program, Amsterdam and Hong Kong), Marnie Slater (Artist and writer, Brussels), and Steven ten Thije (Research Curator, Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven).

The nominated films will be shown during an award ceremony at Cinerama, where the winners of the TENT Academy Award and Best Foreign Film Award will also be announced.
